I followed a pair of ornithologists out into the field when they where ringing birds. It was an early summer morning and the sun was on its way up. When we got there the ornithologists had already hung the nets used to catch the birds in.
We caught over 60 birds that morning and it was really amazing learning about different species and how they travel the world.
The ringing of birds is done so that we can learn more and get a better understanding of how they travel and why they travel such a long distances. We can also get information on the entire population and see if a species is under to much stress.
All this information is then uploaded to a database so that people around the world can follow and examine different species.
